The conference aims to bring together scientists from different disciplines to exchange ideas and knowledge about Strigolactones and to promote cooperation in research. Early bird registration is possible until December 14, 2014.Strigolactones (SLs) are a newly identified class of plant hormones regulating plant architecture, including shoot and root branching. Plants also secrete blends of SLs into the rhizosphere, where they stimulate colonisation of the host roots by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, beneficial organisms for the host.A better insight in how the different SLs are synthesized by the host and how the parasitic plant Striga perceives them could help to develop crops with proper AM colonisation and Striga resistance, a major problem in agriculture in Africa.AbstractsMore information about submitting abstracts and deadlines.VenueAll sessions will take place at conference center Hof van Wageningen.Registration and programEarly bird registration is possible until December 14 2014. Het congres is bedoeld om wetenschappers uit verschillende disciplines samen te brengen om ideeën en kennis uit te wisselen over strigolactonen en om de samenwerking in onderzoek te bevorderen. Early bird registratie is mogelijk tot 14 december 2014.Strigolactonen (SLn) vormen een recent ontdekte, nieuwe klasse van plantenhormonen, die de architectuur van planten regelen, zoals de vertakking van de wortels en de scheut. Maar (mengsels van) SLn worden door planten ook in de bodem uitgescheiden waar ze kolonisering van de wortels van de plant door de symbiotische arbusculaire mycorrhiza (AM) schimmels stimuleren, die de plant helpen bij de opname van fosfaat en stikstof.Onderzoek naar strigolactonen kan van veel waarde zijn bij de bestrijding van striga, een onkruid, dat een groot probleem vormt in de landbouw in Afrika.
